My tarot card reading
02.23.04 (6:38 pm)   [edit]
I wasn't going to see this woman today, but she was available, so I saw her. I see her about once a year, but she doesn't ever remember me. I don't know if that's good or not.

So...the things she touched on:

  • I need to move out and gain my independence, and I don't have much of a support system at home anyway [only true in the sense that my parents are wrapped up in their own lives]

  • I haven't been sleeping well. Time for a new mattress. I need to relax my mind before going to bed and stop using stimulants throughout the day. [maybe all that sugar and candy I've been eating has caught up to me? I know my sleep has been a little different lately, but I don't feel tired. Definitely true about my saggy 10 year old mattress.] She suggested I write in my journal (which I stopped doing a while back) or read happy things or re-read things. Meditation doesn't work for me

  • I recently broke up with somebody. He was aloof and indecisive. [hmm....how did she know?] She made it sound like he'd want to date me again, but I'd need to set up ground rules. He'd probably give me more space than I'd like.

  • Guys find me nice and bright but not available nor sexy. [I dunno. I seem to have guys around regularly.] I tend to meet people in my field, but I should branch out into other groups of people. I need a guy who can take care of himself and who is fun. [Those are normal desires, right?]

  • I will have a home and family because I want it. But first I need to find myself. Until then, I won't be ready to settle down with a guy. [I'm not so sure about that.]

  • I am putting in too much at work, and I'm getting underpaid. [Well, I would like to get paid more, but I've been slacking off since the layoffs, honestly. I spend half my day chatting.] No raise this year.

  • The workmanship of my new place will be a little meh. Don't expect perfection. And my tastes in furniture will change, so I should stick to resellable stuff. But go gung ho on storage facilities. In a couple of years, I will want a house, anyway. Fumes from the place will bother me.

  • Re: Wayne. He's a nice guy, but don't get into anything until you meet him. [She went into a spiel about people and the Internet. I think she was letting her personal opinions into this part. Or maybe I'm just biased.]

  • As for my health, I should get more exercise outdoors. I apparently don't really like exercise. On the contrary, I do!!!

I guess that's about it. I don't really want to re-listen to the tape right now. I found this reading kind of anti-climatic. Every time I'm done, I don't want to see her again, ever. But then I get curious about what she'd say. I take what she says with a grain of salt because it's only one interpretation. I guess she's pretty accurate about personalities and such, but as for predicting things for the future, I don't know. Another thing what I'd rather spend less time on with her and these readings is that she focuses on things which I consider the past. BLEH!

Keep your money and buy something really special for yourself :) Those people are out to make a buck like you are.

That's really cool! I have always wanted to do that at least once in my life. Are her predictions and analysis of you correct?

Yeah, probably...but tarot readings are nice entertainment sometimes ;)

I thought some of the tarot reading for me was kind of fitting, but other stuff, I really didn't buy.

I love tarot....I think you have to have the stomach for it--and understand it...I have seen people get the death card and freak out.

hope things are well :)

Rosie, I'm so glad you posted that. I've been a little embarassed to admit that I am interested in tarot readings. I have my own deck, too.

I haven't actually gone to pay for a reading yet, though. A little scared. There is a website online that gives free tarot readings. I find it interesting: http://www.facade.com

Thanks :) The Death card is not so bad; it's the Tower card that scares me :) How are you, Craig? I miss you!!

Wow! Thanks for the link. I've gone to this site: http://www.free-tarot-reading.net/index.php . They give free readings as well!! I was really into tarot for a while (all last year, I guess), but all of a sudden, I just lost the energy. The cards have been put away for now. I never really trusted my own readings. *teehee* I don't usually tell people about my tarot stuff.

I think some if it is accurate. You do need a new mattress. Giving up on stimulants seems like a good idea too.

I find you nice and bright, but not available. But that's not so bad because I find myself unavailable too. I had to look up the word sexy in the dictionary to make sure, and it described you.

Are you not sure about the home part, or needing to find yourself? If you haven't found yourself yet, how could you possibly know that you will want a home? Where else will you raise that family that you want?

Then again, a lot of this advice would have been suitable for lots of people, and she was wrong about the sexy part.

Rosie, the weirdest thing is, I've been using the Voodoo deck from Facade, and one of the characters showed up in my dreams...I don't remember which one she is, but I know that she wouldn't be in my dreams if I hadn't been using that deck online! I think I might purchase that one.

Thanks for stopping by my blog and reading my ... ramblings. I appreciate your insight and humour, but why don't you blog, too!! :p

I think she was sticking in her anglo-saxon opinions on me with the moving out part. I am pretty sure of what I want in life. But what I said I didn't know about - I don't think I need to find myself before settling down with a guy. I know myself fairly well, and a person can't stay the same forever. Hopefully a companion is someone you can grow with.

As for the sexy part, I think she was saying I'm kind of closed and not very flirtatious. But I've been a little playful yet I don't let people get too close. The last time I saw her, she said I attract men easily, but I never let the depth happen.

I think Tarot can be really fun and it can help you gain insight into your life. But it isnt going to predict the future. Well, not *really*. I mean, I dont need Tarot to tell me that getting a new mattress will help you sleep better. ;)

Sometimes I have to remind myself that tarot isn't for predicting the future. Besides, nothing's set in stone, anyway.

Some things are set in stone. But it's always possible to get a new stone.

I've had my cards read a couple of times I used to work with someone who did reading to make extra money. The only one I really remember was years ago, 15, 17? During the reading she points out that someone by a certain name figured prominantly in my life and would change the way I viewed the world. That was fine, but at that time I was seriously involved (talking almost married serious)with a guy by a different name! It wasn't until five or six years later that I actually met my husband... the man witht the name mentioned by the reader! Freaky? Coincidence? Or is it just something else?

Hey Craig - The Death card means the death of a situation, not a person. Now you want to freak me out? Me being a newbie Tarot reader? Have the 3 of swords show up in a reading. BAD news. Also, the 8 of swords..... prison, fear, abandonment... whooooooowhooooo

Reply to: rosietulips - I wish that you had mapped out what cards turned up so I could compare what she came up with against what the cards mean to me and to others who read. Do you remember any of them?

Definitely freaky!! Was she also a clairvoyant? Seems like this tarot card reader I've seen covers the near future.

I think I've only had one instance where someone said the Three of Swords was not a completely bad thing - something about letting something get ripped apart to heal, or something like that.

And she used a deck I'd never seen before, and her spread was really big, maybe 20 cards? And the rest she kept shuffling and reading from the ones she put down...very different, indeed!

I don't know what the lady was, but she sure pissed off the guy I was involved with! LOL
