I went to that networking thing and didn't even bother to bring any business cards. It was kind of lame, but the music was good. Most of the people I talked to there were either trying to sell me something or didn't want to be there either. "I see the same people here every time."
You know what I hate about those sticky name tags? I have to stick 'em on my boob. And then people just stare to get a good look at the name. Sometimes you have a circle of people staring at your boob. My friend got me my tag for me, and he had told them to use "Google Whore" as my title. It's fine and all, but I had to keep explaining to people that I did not work for Google.
I also saw Abit guy. When I saw his recent photo, I should have known by now why his photo didn't really stick in my mind. He said he got a haircut today, and his hair was so long I wouldn't have noticed a difference  His hair cut is like Shaggy's from Scooby-Doo but maybe a bit thinner. He looked fruity to me. And it was awkward talking to him.
I'm just waiting for the Big Brother 6 finale to finish taping so I can watch it. In the meantime, back to my trip update. Oh yeah, my back is KILLING me today. I have no idea why. I don't know what to do aside from exercising. I'll do some stretching tonight.
Day 4: London
We started off in our usual spot and had breakfast. If you ever stay at the Beaver Hotel, I don't recommend the corn flakes. And what is with the boiled eggs decor? This wasn't the only place with it! But most places we went to did not have beer in their vending machines like the Beaver.
After breakfast, we went to the Tower of London. That was quite interesting...made me want to find out more about the Henrys and James and whatever the names of the kings were. There were some great torture devices
I don't know how many stairs we took, but I noticed especially in the Tube stations how many flights of stairs there were that would go down and then go right back up. It totally made me wonder what the point was. I took some more shots of this bridge (now I've forgotten the name of it) at the Tower of London. I tried to do some framing here.
Then we went to Covent Garden, or was that Covent Gardens? I just wanted to check out the place, but I attempted to entice T to go by telling her there was a Quicksilver store there. Quicksilver stuff is probably cheaper here, but she picked up a London Roxy t shirt for herself. Today I found out there was a store there selling Stila stuff, so if I move there, I won't have to worry about the makeup purchases. She also wanted to check out Crabtree and Evelyn and Nine West. I tried to avoid all the stores that we have here too.
One good purchase we made there were these mugs. They were apparently hand-painted, but the mugs had two girls on it. These girls happened to resemble us...what were the chances? One had short curly light hair with a backpack and the other had long black straight hair with a black purse. Also on the mug was "Mind the gap!" T and I laughed about that announcement a lot.
Then we went to Picadilly Square. I would have liked to walk around there, but T wasn't interested. I also really wanted to catch a show while we were in London, but T and I couldn't agree on a show, and she wasn't in the mood to look around for a show (even though I had suggested booking something in advance. "Nah, since all the theatres are in the same area [they were but weren't that close together!], we'll just walk around and see what's there [despite the fact that we had a thing listing ALL the shows with their locations]." She also didn't really want to spend the money to see a show. I would have really liked to see Guys and Dolls. Both Ewan Macgregor and Jane Krakowski are in it. I think I would have really enjoyed the show.
We grabbed some dinner at this Indian place called Chowki; it was great. The naan was great, and it was huge!
We had to meet up with my cousin that night. We were 45 minutes late, unfortunately. We were running a little late already, and then we took the wrong train, and the trip took longer than I had anticipated. My cousin left just before we got there. I phoned her, and she was already on the bus, so she came back. I felt so bad! We went to this little place and had some dessert.
Had we been on time, maybe we would have made it out to the Ministry of Sound. One of the things we were going to do was go to a club, and who would pass up a chance of going to MoS?? T then admitted she did not want to go clubbing. So then I asked if we could just go see the place, and she was fine with that.
But then by the time we met up with my cousin, the Tube would not have been able to take us back from MoS. And T did not want to take a cab because it would have been "too costly." I was really disappointed. I didn't really want to go alone.
That was our last night in London. We also didn't take a ride in any of the cute cabs! By this time, we had also nixed the idea of going to Paris due to wanting to just stay and see more of England. Unfortunately, she did not want to stay in London either. The city was too hectic and busy for her, and she was complaining about the air quality. *sigh* I loved it. And I meant the city, not the air quality.
A lot of the places I'd seen so far, I just kept thinking that I've have to go back alone and with a camera so I could just photograph things 'til my heart was content! I also wouldn't have to worry about keeping people waiting.
Good bye, Beaver Hotel in London! Good bye butts! I can't believe the number of smokers over there. I am definitely accustomed to all the non-smoking establishments here.
