Yes, it was lame. Like I've said in the past, I'm there for the company and not the show! I checked out Love, Inc., too. I don't know if Busy Phillips' forte is comedy. I really liked her in Freaks and Geeks and Dawson's Creek, though, which is why I decided to check out the show.
While I was driving home, I remembered there was something I didn't want to post about because my boyfriend, at the time, read this blog.
P and I are probably renting a movie tomorrow night. I mentioned I had coupons, and then I also remembered I have a free rental at one of our XXX video stores. When M was visiting from out east, we rented a movie. It was a she-male movie, and the DVD crapped out on us. The movie did nothing for us, but that wasn't the point of renting it. I was telling him I thought gay porn was hot, and he suggested we go rent some. I made him choose a movie, but he didn't want to watch gay porn, so he picked a she-male one. He figured he could at least pretend they were women. But even I was hard-pressed to imagine the she-males being women. Anyway, not that P and I are going to rent a porno tomorrow night, but I do have a free rental because of that last DVD.
I did some good cooking tonight. I'm even going to use the dishwasher tomorrow. I'm out of bowls, and soon I will be out of spoons.
On with the trip recap...
But before I go on, I sent myself postcards while I was gone. I sent postcards to other people, too. This is what I wrote to myself from London:
Sept. 5, 2005
Dear Rosie,
T and I saw the Tower of London today. Now we've just finished lunch at Cafe Pasta in Covent Garden [the pizza was AWESOME]. We might move to another hotel. Soon we'll get tickets to a show [didn't happen], and hopefully go to the Ministry of Sound tomorrow night [didn't happen]. The weather was scorching the first few days, but last night it poured, and now it's even a little chilly. I think I brought enough clothes. English men are hot. I want one. I have yet to eat spotted dick or fish 'n' chips :(

Day 6: Cambridge
T and I took the bus from JB's place into Cambridge. The plan today was to do some punting and some sightseeing. I can't remember what time we started our day, but T decided to do laundry. I think North America is the only place I know of where people regularly do big loads of laundry in the washer and throw them the dryer. She totally stuffed the tiny little washer/dryer and wondered why the stuff wasn't dry
We got some special deal on a chauffered punting tour, so we took advantage of it. Trying out punting would have been fun, but we'd have missed out on seeing everything around us even though we would have taken a long time to go along the river. Punts are these little boats that you steer and propel with long poles. Unfortunately, one guy fell in the water! On this tour, we heard some history about the colleges. Cambridge is just one big college town. Colleges for the rich everywhere! Some colleges had punts docked to the side. How neat it'd be to grab a punt on a break. We went under several bridges; one of them was the Math Bridge. I forget who designed it (Thomas Edison?!), but the way it's engineered doesn't require nails, etc. But they still used nuts, bolts, nails, etc. anyway -- just in case.
I had to snap a photo of this sign after we were done. I don't know what it is with people over there and vandalising signage. There was a muffin place called Muffin something, but the "in" from Muffin was marked up. And some other store had the name Discount in it, but someone broke the sign where the "o" was.
As for more signage, I like the ones that point out the obvious. Or the ironic.
After punting and some food, we walked around and took some photos to take advantage of the light. It was too late to start any tours of the colleges. We met up with JB after he got off work, and then we picked up some fish and chips. I was trying to hold off on having any 'til we got to the coast, but am I glad we had those! They were deeelicious. I don't know if the cod was what we call cod here, but the texture was definitely different. I could have done without the chips, but I also tried mushy peas. They were too salty and gross for me. I can live without mushy peas, I think. We at them at his parents' place, and then we all went to the pub and then a walk around the village.
Whenever JB used to talk about the village, I'm not sure what I was really thinking of -- maybe something medieval even. However, a village is just a *really* large neighbourhood with a close neighbourly feel. We saw houses with thatched roofs which was cool. Obviously we don't have any here, and thatching is a dying ... art.
His family was so nice! Their dining table has this plate of pears. They looked quite real. T and I were totally on the same track. We both started wondering out loud if they were real, and we each picked up a pear and sniffed it, all in sync.
