++butt or front?
11.14.05 (8:17 am)   [edit]
Which is more important when wearing a pair of jeans? Looking good in the front or back? I tend to buy jeans when I accidentally find a pair that fits well. However, my jeans are all a little tight for me now, so I want some new ones. Actually, current styles are just too clingy for my taste now. I must be getting old.

Anyway, I found two pairs that I could actually pull up over my thighs, and I only want to keep one pair of jeans. Do I want to go for slightly more comfortable, or do I want a pair that gives me a luscious ass??

I was hoping for some good salespeople on the weekend. I told them that I was only looking for a pair of jeans. I think I must have tried on about 40 pairs. Only one salesgirl brought me recommendations. How in the world do Europeans go shopping?? Why do they even have salespeople in European stores? The salespeople stand around and chit chat. On the weekend, the ones I saw were too busy trying to keep the store tidy instead of helping customers.

And why am I listening to Janet Jackson? I don't remember how this song got my on my work computer.

Last night, I heard a few songs from the new Madonna album. I am really looking forward to hearing the whole thing, but I know I'll feel guilty if I buy it. She is timeless, I tell you.

Oh yeah, I tried on a pair of jeans that made me look like I had male genitalia. And then I also unknowlingly tried on a pair of tapered jeans, the kind that you can tuck into your jeans. That particular experience brought me back to the 80s. Ugh. And the absolute worst part about trying on jeans is that they'r e always too long. I can never get a good look at how they fit!!! Trousers and jeans definitely need to come in 30" length *all* the time. And it's still ridiculous that I have to pay more money to get the legs chopped off for hemming.

Okay, Express has pants in short lengths that fit me, but we don't have that store here. Sometimes Gap has good lengths, but their jeans and pants usually fit horrribley on me. Mavi makes jeans in 30" length, but they tend to fit small.

:)

Better look for comfort. Otherwise the luscious ass look could get a bit cramped depending on how long you have to wear them, lol.

I'd say the rear, but that's just one man's opinion.

Back in the 1960's, there were jeans made with low cut waists. They had a problem, though, because they cut across the rear end in an unnatural place. Eventually, they went out of style, when people realized that a higher waist makes the waist look thinner (since the waistline is thinner higher up) and it makes the rear end look more shapely since it's showing all the curves instead of having it top off at its widest part.

So jeans kept getting better and better looking. Then, for some strange reason, the low waist of the 1960s made a comeback. Nobody could figure out how to make it work without ruining the rear end, and nobody quite figured out what to do with the pockets either.

Strangely enough, many women now believe that jeans with a higher waist are somehow more conservative or even prudish. The reality is that they are more sexy.

If you've ever wondered why some guys wear baggy pants that are falling off them, even though the opposite sex thinks it looks ridiculous, they do so in the name of style. It may seem foolish, but it's no more foolish than women wearing low cut waists so they can look like Britney when the result is that their rear ends end up looking like Al Campanis.

As for length, consider yourself lucky. No matter how long jeans are, you can always hem them or cut them. It's a problem when they are too short. It's a lot easier to shorten jeans by a few inches than to take the waist in by a few inches.

It's gotten to the point where I literally cannot find a single pair of pants in a clothing store that fit. A couple of decades ago, it was common to find men's pants with a 29 inch waist and 34 inch length. Now it's just about impossible to find pants with less than a 32 inch waist at all, and if there are any, they end at 30 inches. If I were morbidly obese, I'd have no problem, because the shelves are loaded with pants with 45 inch waists, but finding anything that fits is nearly impossible.

I don't mind jeans tight around the butt so much...something has to keep my jeans up!

What do guys do about jeans when they care?? Do they care how it looks in the front, too??

I didn't mind the high-waisted look so much, but they're not the most comfortable. Where do you go to find pants these days??!

lol my thing is my big butt and small waist. I mean jeans that fit my waist are too small in the butt. If they fit my butt right..they are huge in the waist :(

Some of my friends have that problem, too!! The Gap now has a "curvy" style jean which I think gives more room in the tushie. I just think if you ever find a pair of jeans that fits, get them right away!!

As long as your jeans don't give you the "I just pooed myself" look, I think you're all good :)

I have good luck with Ann Taylor jeans. They come in petite so I don't have to hem them. Bonus! They even make MY butt look pretty good. That is sayin' sumpin'.

Original Boot Cut jeans by Gap - make my ass look lucious and my front look smaller than it really is. You can't beat that! And they do make them in short sizes :)

Gap jeans often are too tight around my thighs...not flattering!! I have one day left to choose which pair of jeans I went to keep!

BWAHAHAHA I don't know if keeping both pairs of jeans is in my budget. I have never bought anything from Old Navy before. Things seem to fit me funny there :-/

I ended up sticking with the butt-friendly jeans, but there is still time to return those too :) I don't love those jeans but I need a new pair!

I have no idea where to find pants. I keep looking, but it's hopeless. I have some pants from 10 years ago that fit. After that, I gained some weight, so they just stayed in the closet. Then my doctor put me on a diet. I was never fat, but I did have enough belly fat to wear "normal" clothing.

Now I'm finding out that sizes have shifted. What used to be a size 8 for women is now called a size 6. What used to be called a 34 inch waist for men is now called a 32 inch waist. For women, it's at least understandable that sizes are relative terms, but how can inches be relative? I suppose that somebody whose waist grew to 34 inches might feel good if he can find pants with a 32 inch waist that fit, but the problem is that it's not real.
