Another work change
08.02.06 (12:30 pm)   [edit]

Why am I still with a company that gives me so little? What is it going to take for me to get off my ass to update my freakin' resume?

My boss gave his notice today. Even though I've been with the company for 6 years now, I'll be getting my 5th manager in two weeks. My manager has shifted 5 times in a year and a half.

They got rid of everyone more senior than I back in Spring 2005. Well, they just about did. The Docs architect quit right away. Then I had ol' "I don't know anything about Documentation" guy as my manager for 9 months. I had no support then and a manager who didn't care about my career. Then finally, I got a guy who would have cared but he got pulled away to do project management, so the role I was supposed to transition to has fallen flat. And now I am getting another manager who would be fine if I was still doing product documentation. But I'm not.

I'm frustrated and not liking these changes.

eeks yeah if they can't keep a manager, it says something about the company.. Maybe getting outta there would be a good thing.

Sounds like it's time to move on.

That is not good for your team moral, having a new boss every week... stressful!

I think that the stress is motivation enough to update your resume! You deserve more then a revolving boss. This leaves you with no one to help you develop your career or helping you with your own personal and career growth. That's not a healthy work environment! Good Luck finding something better!

Yeah, I haven't felt settled since my first manager left. He was canned, and he had been my manager for almost 5 years. I can't take any more of these changes!

It's not just managers changing all the time, a lot of the senior employees are leaving. We have one person leaving each week, it seems!

It's almost embarrassing how long i've been saying it's time to move on since I haven't done anything about it.

I don't think morale's been that great for a while. We had layoffs after layoffs and then a whole bunch of new people came in.
