This whole work thing seriously cuts into my blog-reading time. posted by: rosietulips (reply) post date: 11.29.06 (3:43 pm) Reply to: roxgirl I guess I don't really hate zoos. I don't think animals belong in them, that's all! posted by: rosietulips (reply) post date: 11.29.06 (3:43 pm) Reply to: scubadiva No worries! I have been wondering how you are doing!! They can be fun even if they're long :) posted by: scubadiva (reply) post date: 11.30.06 (4:47 am) Working. Over-working - which officially concluded today. (Meaning I'm not going into the office until 8:30 and I'm taking lunches and leaving at 5:30 on the dot.) In defense of zoos (and aquariums), MOST are exhibiting animals that were unable to survive out in the wild. ie, the sea lions at the GA Aquarium - California has a policy that if a sea lion beaches itself 3 times (its tagged and kept a record of), they deem it unable to survive in the wild - and it is euthanized unless a facility can adopt it. So - would it have been better to just let them be put to sleep? And Atlanta just had a baby panda cub born 3 months ago, after it finishes nursing with its mother, it is returned to the Chinese Panda Habitat - which is like a Ritz Carlton - where they are studying them to learn how to help them reproduce more successfully to continue the species from being extinct. Frequently, some are released into the wild. So... although it may seem inhumane to keep them housed in a zoo - there's usually a lot more to the story than just going out in the wild, capturing them, and bringing them here to display for money. posted by: rosietulips (reply) post date: 12.01.06 (9:36 am) Reply to: scubadiva Have you heard about the panda porn to teach pandas how to hump!?? posted by: scubadiva (reply) post date: 12.07.06 (4:42 am) Reply to: Um, no I can't say I'm familiar with panda porn. Or any porn in particular. Never really been a fan of it. |
