Do as I say and not as I do!
12.01.06 (10:35 am)   [edit]

I got an email from my boss to request that I keep to my personal MSNing during lunch. Fair enough.

But if I get my work done, does it matter? Or am I using up too much work resources to MSN. Meanwhile, he and the developers go surfing at YouTube and other video sites and have good laughs about them.

*eyes roll*

Personally, I don't think MSN should be allowed at any workplace. It's VERY distracting! I mean, email can be distracting enough some days!
I think you are lucky, i's not like he's pulled the plug on your MSN from your work computer all together.
I have friends that MSN at work... personally I would never get anything done if I could sit and chat with all my friends on company time!!! But maybe that's my problem!

PS... he is the boss. I guess if he wants to surf YouTube on company time, he can... He's the one that will suffer in the long run. (But I know what you mean. I do hate hypocrites too!)

I guess I am a little more productive when I am not MSNing, but for me, it's also a little relaxing since I pretty much only leave my desk at work for bathroom breaks. Everyone around here just works with their head down!

MSN is helpful when some people are working at home, but it's definitely not needed in the office when everyone's here. We don't even have cubes or offices!

Hypocracy isn't pretty, aye?!

I'll just be more discrete when the urge to MSN comes up :-p

That seems weird and sounds to me like a bit of a double standard...

It totally is a double-standard! But what I can I do...he's my boss. It'd be easier if I was in a big company and just a number! I want my anonymity back!
