Receptionist duties
12.07.06 (3:19 pm)   [edit]

I don't really want to go with the "not my job" mentality...but I was asked to what I felt was a receptionist duty!

We don't have a receptionist here. I don't think I am the first person visible when someone comes into our office. But I was singled out by our sales guy...

"Rosie [I thought I was going to get in trouble!], remember that guy that came in a few weeks ago? [no] He is coming in soon. When he gets here, could you show him to my office, please?"

I obliged, but really...why me?

You're just so dependable! Hard worker, and always on top of things.... so proud.

well.... you read my recent posts "Murphy's Office Laws", one says "If you enjoy what yo're doing, you're probably doing it wrong" and vice versa also stands true.

Are you the only female in the office? Sounds to me like you are pleasant and this guy probably knows you'd make a good first impresion, and what type of Client doesn't want to be greeted by a friendly, pretty young woman?
(sexist, I know... but hey, that's the way of the world!)

Yeah, I mentioned my "outrage" to my coworker, and he said I was chosen because I was hot. But really...you walk into the office, and you see everyone. The sales guy could have just given us a general heads up! Usually one of the senior developers does the greeting. He isn't bad looking! I guess I should be flattered...*L*
