LOL posted by: rosietulips (reply) post date: 02.22.07 (12:59 pm) Reply to: FinalyFree I don't see the point on commenting on someone's weight change?? Maybe if it was drastic and was a sign of health problems, I might say something. posted by: judypatooote (reply) post date: 02.22.07 (1:56 pm) Sometimes parents just don't think... I remember when my kids were in high school, and were leaving to go out, i would ask, aren't you going to comb your hair, or are you wearing that.... I never realized that, that comment would hurt their self esteem... or would hurt their feelings. I'm sure your dad wasn't thinking either..... by the way I have a little friend in China that I write to.....her name is Zhou.....I have a picture of her on my blog....in one of the posts....She is 20 or 21 and goes to college and works at a hotel restaurant....my friend Lola met her when she was visiting China, and she calls both of us granny.....the respect shown in China from youth and the respect here in US is so different... they are really respectful.... posted by: rosietulips (reply) post date: 02.22.07 (2:00 pm) Reply to: judypatooote Yes, respect for elders is extremely important. When I was a kid, I had to call my grandmother every day on the phone. It's strange - I was definitely a chubby kid, but my parents never made me feel bad about it. In fact, my dad liked that I was a chubby kid. *L* posted by: FitGirl (reply) post date: 02.22.07 (4:08 pm) My dad is also very blunt about weight gain/loss. I just chalk it up to him being tactless! LOL Your workout sounds very good. How did you feel afterwards? posted by: FitGirl (reply) post date: 02.22.07 (4:09 pm) I know how you feel about that weight gain... I can gain 3 piunds these days by just looking at the fridge! LOL posted by: thecyberwriter (reply) post date: 02.22.07 (5:49 pm) It's not unusual for my family to comment on weight loss, but I don't see them coming out and being blunt with "My GAWD, you have gotten fat!" LOL That is really interesting though LOL posted by: FinalyFree (reply) post date: 02.22.07 (5:54 pm) Reply to: FinalyFree I had weight issues for years, being overweight that is. After I divorced I lost a LOT. Before that they both would say things like, "you know it's really unhealthy to be overweight, it's just not good for you" and my all time favorite "you have such a pretty face, it's such a shame you can't lose the weight"--then when I did lose it they constantly said, "you just don't look healthy" WTF...I just couldn't win! posted by: ggirl (reply) post date: 02.23.07 (8:42 am) Excellent workout...pat yourself on the back! posted by: 69whisper (reply) post date: 02.23.07 (8:53 am) i like to pass a compliment when someone does a real effort to loose weight. i think people like being admired for the efforts they put in. posted by: rosietulips (reply) post date: 02.23.07 (10:13 am) Reply to: FitGirl I felt pretty good after the workout! I almost feel like I didn't challenge myself enough!! But my upper body is a little sore today. posted by: rosietulips (reply) post date: 02.23.07 (10:14 am) Reply to: thecyberwriter Sometimes I notice when someone's gained considerable weight, but I'd never feel right about saying something about it! posted by: rosietulips (reply) post date: 02.23.07 (10:16 am) Reply to: FinalyFree *L* Nope...it's a lose-lose situation sometimes!! What did you do to lose all your weight? posted by: rosietulips (reply) post date: 02.23.07 (10:16 am) Reply to: ggirl Thanks :) posted by: rosietulips (reply) post date: 02.23.07 (10:16 am) Reply to: 69whisper I like to compliment people when they're looking good! (whether they gain or lose weight) posted by: FinalyFree (reply) post date: 02.23.07 (11:41 am) Reply to: rosietulips I got divorced nearly 10 years ago, took me about a year and a half to lose what I wanted to lose. I was a BIG girl! lol posted by: rosietulips (reply) post date: 02.23.07 (11:52 am) Reply to: FinalyFree A year and a half to lose weight isn't that long. That is great progress! At my rate, I am happing losing a pound a month, but that really isn't fast enough for my wants *L* posted by: FinalyFree (reply) post date: 02.23.07 (2:42 pm) Reply to: rosietulips But you don't need to lose weight, silly girl ;P posted by: rosietulips (reply) post date: 02.23.07 (3:09 pm) Reply to: FinalyFree But I want to! My doctor has suggested I lose weight, too. But for the wrong reasons! She said my cholesterol is too high for someone my age, and she said me losing weight would also lower my blood pressure (never mind that I had worked out that morning and *just* had a pelvic exam when she took it!) I would like to have a hard body! And a 28 inch waist (or smaller) *L* posted by: FinalyFree (reply) post date: 02.23.07 (8:33 pm) Reply to: rosietulips I have that cholesterol prob now too, they tell me diet and exercise would fix mine. I'm trying, just not too hard. lol My blood pressure is rock bottom thanks to all the meds I take, but even when I way overweight I never had high blood pressure! I'm very grateful for that. Ack, a pelvic exam is enough to raise anyone's BP, lol. My Mother had a 19 inch waist when she married my Dad. That's like freakishly small--almost convincing me I must be adopted! posted by: rosietulips (reply) post date: 02.26.07 (7:22 am) Reply to: FinalyFree Are you taking anything for your cholesterol? I think I am just predisposed to high cholesterol. My mom take salmon oil pills and they seem to have helped a lot! I am taking them now, too. The last time I had a 19 inch waist, I was probably 10?! posted by: FinalyFree (reply) post date: 02.26.07 (9:48 am) Reply to: rosietulips My total cholesterol is excellent-141 but my 'bad'cholesterol is a little elevated and the 'good' stuff is a little low, so I've been taking Vytorin for about 6 months. I'm due to have a panel done again since it takes about this long to see any results from the meds. I'm not sure I had a 19 inch waist at BIRTH! heh |
