Let me out of here
02.23.07 (10:30 am)   [edit]

I've never experienced actually *not* wanting to go to work. I guess there is a first time for everything.

And I parked in the wrong place today. It's $3 for 3 hours instead of the whole day. I don't have other change. *sigh* But I will still have to move my car somewhere else. I hope there ends up being something in the free lot.

Last night was bridesmaid dress shopping. I actually enjoyed the experience. It was me and another bridesmaid and the bride. We tried on so many different styles, and picked out 5 that we liked collectively. I'm just surprised I can pull of strapless. Most of the dresses were strapless. I had my measurements taken too. I have always wondered what the proper way of measuring the chest is (for women). How can you be sure it's right??

One of the other bridesmaids is totally not wanting to take part in anything. It's going to be interesting to see when she will try on the dresses. And I am still hoping that the bride will pay for at least some of the dresses. She is taking note of the cost, but she hasn't said about who's paying. I asked the other bridesmaid last night, and she thinks we'll be paying for our own.

At this rate, with all the stuff they want to do before and for the wedding, I'll be spending like $1000 on someone else's wedding. :-/ I didn't even spend that much on my best friend's wedding!

Dress: $250+
Accessories: who knows ($150?? shoes and shawl)
Stagette to Vegas: $600 (airfare, hotel, food, and entertainment)
Bridal Shower: who knows ($100?? gift and party)
Wedding gift: $100ish

When they talked about going to Vegas, I said that it'd be nice to go but I can't afford it, and they said, "well, it's only about $400 for flight and hotel. There are always lots of deals." And then their backup plan is go away for a weekend somewhere local, which would still be a couple of hundred bucks, I think.

*eyes roll*

Today I thought I'd see if I could still kneel on an exercise ball, and I can still do it! Woo!

Last night was my first time in a bridal shop. Up until then, I'd never even thought about what I'd want my dress to be like BWAHAHAHA Anyway, I can't see my friends calling off their wedding nor our friendship blow, so it is inevitable for me to participate!

Just think, if yyou are spending that much money, then so are her bridesmaids... now times that amount of money by all the people going! Ughhh... Wedding's aer just silly all around. I'll be saving up my money for a big trip! :)

I'm sure you'll have fun in Vegas though!!! Wooot!

Eloping just sound so much easier! I think there is only one bridesmaid (out of 4) who doesn't seem to have a problem with the costs! She keeps saying to the bride "it's your day!"

Vegas would be fun...no doubt about that. It would be even more fun if it was paid for!

rosie all that you should be paying for is your outfit, all other expenses should be paid for by the bride including this trip.

I sure don't miss having to pay to park!! LOL I was paying $75/month at my old job for monthly parking, but that was in a covered, heated garage...with security! LOL I'm glad to be putting that money towards something else :-)

I bet you are going to be so glad when this whole wedding is over with, am I right?? LOL Who knows, yours will probably be next :-)

Thanks :) I have heard so many versions of what the bride should be paying for for her bridesmaids. When I saw a budget checklist, all that was on there was gifts for us.

I'm just so used to not paying for parking. When we move to our new office, I think we will actually be able to park in our own parking lot FOR FREE!

I am sure the wedding will be okay; I just don't want to be spending gobs of money on it.

Wow. I didn't realize being a bridesmaid could be so expensive. I'm making a mental note about this.

It doesn't have to be expensive to be a bridesmaid although I thought past etiquette had the bride paying for most of the cost. When my best friend got married and I was her maid of honour, she paid for the material for our dresses and she found someone who could make our dresses for $60. I think she only wanted a night out as her stagette, too.
