Seems a bit mean that he'd bother to say something like that. posted by: twitchy (reply) post date: 04.02.07 (2:36 pm) I can't imagine ostracizing a family member for bringing a date. To a wedding. Seriously, wtf??? posted by: rosietulips (reply) post date: 04.02.07 (2:45 pm) Reply to: themarina I think he thought he was just explaining the rules of Chinese weddings. I don't know. My aunt says there was nowhere to put me since all my other relatives sat with my aunt's in-laws. posted by: rosietulips (reply) post date: 04.02.07 (2:47 pm) Reply to: twitchy I don't think I was otracised for bringing a date, but seriously...I am still choked that I didn't get to sit with or anywhere NEAR my relatives!!! posted by: wolfen (reply) post date: 04.02.07 (3:07 pm) My dad says stuff like that too. Must be an old guy thing. posted by: rosietulips (reply) post date: 04.02.07 (3:16 pm) Reply to: wolfen My dad also pissed off my cousin's wife. She's never really understood our family's sense of humour, but my dad probably should have said nothing. But she's 7 months pregnant, and my dad said to her, "wow, I haven't seen in you a while! You've gotten chubby!" She just looked a little mad and said, "baby." My dad also said to me yesterday, "wow, look at your gut." :-) posted by: wolfen (reply) post date: 04.02.07 (3:46 pm) I could TOTALLY see my dad doing something like that! He likes to make this sort of "baby elephant walk" sound when I gain weight. Nice. Way to scar me dad! :) Glad I'm not the only one! posted by: rosietulips (reply) post date: 04.02.07 (4:30 pm) Reply to: wolfen Thankfully, I try to tell myself that I don't care what my dad thinks. He used to be proud that I was a chubby kid, too! posted by: doeeyed (reply) post date: 04.03.07 (5:21 am) DADS!
