Just looking for her address
04.25.07 (5:19 pm)   [edit]

I was looking for my doctor's mailing address, and couldn't find it so I tried looking for the doctor that shares her office. I didn't find the mailing address, but I did find some information on the other doctor.

He was sued because he didn't diagnose a couple's (no longer together) unborn child had Down's Syndrome. The article alluded he purposely didn't give them an amniocentesis  because he figured the couple would abort the baby if she had Down's.

This doctor was also my dad's physician. I'm not sure if he still is. I met him at the hospital when my dad attempted suicide. I remember speaking to this doctor and getting the impression that he was really sorry for what happened but didn't really know what he could have done as my dad's doctor.

And the psychiatrist my dad went to also got suspended or worse because he had a sexual relationship with one of his patients. Lovely.

I would like to know more details about the psychiatrist relationship with his patient. It sounds interesting, literarily speaking of course.

I knew a psychiatrist once, and he said that sometimes doctors get so caught up in their patients' healing that they end up getting too involved and crossing the line into unprofessionalism. But I didn't hear more about my dad's shrink. I only read the story in the local newspaper!

Unfortunately, I didn't find what I was looking for!

I have great sketicism about doctors of all kinds. I tend to doublecheck to make sure they're at least on the right track. I'm amazed that the litigation info was even available to you. We can check the AMA, but they'll only list doctors whose license was suspended. That happens in far fewer cases than it should.

Oh wow. Sometimes it's better not to know.

Over the years, I've found that good doctors are really hard to come by!

I'd definitely want to know if a doctor was sued for malpractice! If I never needed a doctor again, that would be cool with me, too!
