America's Cup
05.16.07 (7:38 am)   [edit]

Mr. Nick and I were trying to book a hotel in Valencia, and we kept finding that room rates for our last night were almost double our first night. We figured something big must be going on that weekend, and it's the America's Cup! I knew it was happening around then, but I am even more thrilled that maybe we can catch some of the event!

Time to do more research!

Lesson learned: trip planning should be done when everyone is mentally alert. No Mr. or Mrs. Crankypants!

I'll be going for my first acupuncture session today. I wonder what that is going to feel like!

Since I was denied for my loan, I contacted my banker about getting more money. I am still miffed that I have to incur more debt for someone else's leaky condos, and even when/if I get compensated, it is not going to change that I will be in a worse position once I get my mortgage updated.

My interest rate will be going up by 0.1%, and even if I got the whole amount compensated, I can pay an extra so much per year back into my mortgage!

But the good news is that I will be able to pay off my line of credit once I get the money. And if I behave myself and not really dip back into it, I can use it to pay off my mortgage when it's time for renewal! I also asked for a bit extra in preparation for my trip. I hope I budgeted enough.

I think this time, Mr. Nick will crack that whip if I go a little crazy at the lingerie stores. I can't help but love European lingerie!

Oh, one last thing...I can't seem to hold on to poles long enough. I don't know why...are my hands too dry?

I'll be sure to give lots! Do you think you'd get acupuncture?

*L* Lotion is good for some poles...BWAHAHA Just not brass ones. I already don't use lotion when I do my dancing. Maybe I will have to not use hand lotion at all that day! But my hands are extremely dry :( I need hydration!

Ugh... I really hope you get your financial situation in order, as you have it planned out! Sounds like a big stress!

Good Luck with those dry hands!!!

Thanks! Why do we as grownups have to deal with this money shizzle??

And thanks with the hands. *L*

Ok. Sunglasses? There is really very little difference in "good" sunglasses vs. less expensive ones. You lose them and sit on them and scratch them. Deal with the lower-priced ones. Fiscal restraint.

And lingerie - why invest in a huge collection when they won't be staying on very long?

I have a few pair of cheapo sunglasses...they are definitely trashed, but I still wear them the most! And I don't know what it is about lingerie...but I just like having it!

Inevitably, when I've purchased an expensive pair of sunglasses, they've been lost or broken in less than 48 hours. Since then, I've sworn to never pay more than $20 for them. Currently sporting some cute ones I got at Parisian's for under $12 (gotta love 80% off sales!)

I often watch the America's Cup on TV. I would love to see it in person but I am not sure how they work that. Do they take folks out on boats to watch? It never looks like they are close enough to the shore for good viewing.

I don't get how you always seem to find great sales!

I saw somewhere you could charter a yacht for 6000 euro to watch the America's Cup! But I don't know how it works either. You are such a water person!

It's a gift. ;)
Or maybe it's partially genetic.
I was raised never to pay retail.
And I love the thrill of the hunt...sometimes.
But I cannot shop under pressure - ie having an event to go to and HAVING to get something specifically for it.

The only time I ever feel good about shopping is when I score a deal or find something I really like when I'm not looking. I hate shopping with a purpose! I try not to pay retail for anything but clothes!
