posted by: LadyG (reply) post date: 06.01.07 (9:33 am) Doesn't sound like a nice enviroment for a haircut. posted by: FinalyFree (reply) post date: 06.01.07 (11:36 am) I have always kind of identified myself via hair too. I'm one of the lucky ones that have a huge mane of it that is full of body. Part of me has wanted a short, easy to care for, hairstyle for years but I just don't have the guts to cut it all off. I've only had short hair a few times in my life and the most recent being 7th Grade!! BWHAHAHA!! I always hate my 'new' haircut for the first day or two, no matter who cuts it. But I grow to love it and I'm sure you will too :) Just look for a more 'user-friendly' salon! posted by: scubadiva (reply) post date: 06.01.07 (1:26 pm) I'm STILL recovering from the bad haircut and subsequent debacle last AUGUST. I went from having hair at my shoulderblades to hair just under my ears! Then they recommended a straightener since my hair is sorta kinky to give it a little more length... which fried my hair. I've been deep conditioning it like crazy and cutting it off gradually. I'm so totally identified by my hair - I'm a Leo - as well as being a redhead. (Clairol #112) posted by: wolfen (reply) post date: 06.01.07 (2:41 pm) I am so sick of bad haircuts that I literally go once a year for a haircut...and if I get a good one my hairdresser inevitably seems to disappear..."Oh Tracey, she quit...no I can't tell you where she went." I feel your pain. posted by: rosietulips (reply) post date: 06.04.07 (11:59 am) Reply to: LadyG No, definitely not, and now that I reflect on it, I know there are nice salons out there! posted by: rosietulips (reply) post date: 06.04.07 (12:02 pm) Reply to: FinalyFree I am trying to look for things I like about this new hair do...I guess I like the layering. But even though he asked me how much I want cut off, he cut off more than I wanted!! I told him I wanted a "trim" not a cut!! And to top it off, I noticed the cut was uneven. There is an inch difference between one chunk on the right vs. the left!!! I want my old hair length back!!! Usually my trims are barely noticeable. They're so noticeable my mom's always telling me I need to be getting my money's worth. posted by: rosietulips (reply) post date: 06.04.07 (12:03 pm) Reply to: scubadiva Is your hair past your chin yet?? I told the guy I wanted my hair long enough to be pulled into a pony tail, and the shortest layer ends just past my chin :-/ I am not impressed. posted by: rosietulips (reply) post date: 06.04.07 (12:05 pm) Reply to: wolfen I don't know you how do it...annual haircuts?? BWAAHAHA I think my hair would look like straw if I didn't get it cut more often than that. I go once every two months and by then, the ends are looking pretty scraggly! posted by: scubadiva (reply) post date: 06.04.07 (12:11 pm) Reply to: rosietulips If it's not humid, and I straighten it, it's past my jawline... posted by: scubadiva (reply) post date: 06.04.07 (12:39 pm) I wonder if I use visuals like that - long enough that my boyfriend can pull be my my ponytail in a moment of passion... Considering the unhappy results I've had with $75-$90 results, I wonder if Supercuts could really do that much worse? Or dare I ask? posted by: rosietulips (reply) post date: 06.04.07 (12:48 pm) Reply to: scubadiva Obviously, this hairdresser didn't know what a ponytail was!?? But I seriously think he misunderstood my hair. It may look straight, but left to its own devices, it gets much wavier! At least with Supercuts, you probably won't feel like you got ripped off if the cut turns out horribly! posted by: scubadiva (reply) post date: 06.04.07 (12:54 pm) I don't think that speaking english or actualy having a license to cut hair is a requirement at that place... I don't know how to get a decent cut - I've tried pictures, consultations, analogies, I want it to look like... I seem to be cursed with bad results. If my hair wasn't so possessed, I'd just grow it out to one length and forget about it. Or I could do a Britney and get really crappy extensions? posted by: rosietulips (reply) post date: 06.04.07 (1:00 pm) Reply to: scubadiva What about hair cutting schools?? Trying out new salons is such a pain. Two of my friends who went to this hairdresser were constantly raving about him! I should have trusted my gut. Alas...if I don't go back to my old hairdresser, I am finding someone Asian to cut my hair! You could learn to style your own hair, too! Or just shave your head and get wigs. Britney knows what she's doing! posted by: scubadiva (reply) post date: 06.04.07 (1:12 pm) I went to the Aveda salon here a couple of times but the results were dismal. (And never let them wax your brows!) The hairstylist I really liked went back to the Ukraine, so I'm SOL. posted by: rosietulips (reply) post date: 06.04.07 (1:16 pm) Reply to: scubadiva I'm not sure I've ever had great results with eyebrow waxes. I've headed into the threading department, but i think the best eyebrow work I ever got was by someone who plucked!! THe next time you go to the Ukraine, you can get yourself a nice haircut there! posted by: scubadiva (reply) post date: 06.04.07 (1:26 pm) 10 years ago, someone at a very expensive salon, took off the outside 1/2 of one of my eyebrows. I was in a rush, didn't even think about the fact she didn't show me a mirror afterwards. I ended up wearing sunglasses for months. And it's never grown back fully. I need an eyebrow toupee (and I admit I use Rogaine on it just in case it works!) Not planning any trips to the Ukraine any time soon. posted by: rosietulips (reply) post date: 06.04.07 (3:24 pm) Reply to: scubadiva Has the Rogaine done anything for your eyebrows? I have heard about eyebrows just not growing back! My eyebrows are really sparse, but I definitely don't have that problem. posted by: scubadiva (reply) post date: 06.04.07 (3:27 pm) Reply to: rosietulips I don't know if it works, but I'm not growing a unibrow as a result. My mom had her brows completely shaved off in the 60's because it was the 'thing'. They never grew back. She draws them on (and they look silly). Definite candidate for eyebrow toupees. posted by: rosietulips (reply) post date: 06.04.07 (3:34 pm) Reply to: scubadiva My mom's eyebrows are tattooed on! At least she still has some hair growing out of them, and the ink hasn't turned blue. |
