Hair, hair, hair
08.22.07 (11:55 am)   [edit]

I have very long hair. I think it takes about 3 years of growth (and regular trims) to get to my length. There have been an abundance of split ends lately, and I haven't been able to figure out what's causing them.

It's not my workouts. I don't use backpacks that often. My hair dresser said my hair was weak (although well-conditioned).

A lightbulb went off in my head today. Maybe it's just the way my hair was born.

I know it has taken my hair 3 years to get to this length because it took *that* long for the colour to grow out. I typically get my hair coloured once, and not again until it all grows out.

Three years ago, a lot of my hair was falling out. I'm guessing my hair health was rather poor then, leading to any new hair that was growing to be in poor health, too.

So, I am hoping it is just a bad stint of hair growth right now. And if I keep up with the trims (and maybe cutting off more than an inch every time), my hair will be back on track in no time!

I have hair goals. It used to be "grow longer." Now, it's just "maintain."

I had a dream that I got my hair cut. It was chin length. And my hair was straight and flat! If I had hair that short, it definitely wouldn't be flat. It'd be very wavy, and I'm sure I'd get asked if I got a perm.

Hormonal issues can cause hair loss.
Weak hair is more prone to split ends.
There are vitamins for hair, nail, skin improvement. You need to take them twice a day over time to see improvement. My dh took them but he went bald. LOL -- he took them for his skin and nails, he knew his hair was falling out like his Dad's.

I remember when I was younger it was fun to put my hair up, I felt so grown up.

Now that I am older, my hair is long but I usually wear it up all the time and now I feel so old! LOL

I only put my hair up if I'm at the gym, or if my hair needs to be washed, and I don't have time to wash it!!
Actually, some people say their hair looks shinier and healthier when they consume their Omega 3-6-9s. I haven't noticed a difference, but my skin has gotten softer!

Teasing your hair builds hair character and strength. What you do is stand in fron of your mirror and say.....oh you naughty hair.....you're looking sassy......rawr, you're on fire. That should put some bounce in your hair :)

I am with you Rosie... I don't think all the chemically treated hair has been chopped off yet... I used to get this too when I highlighted my hair, the ends were getting more and more split as the highlights grew out! Hopefully after the next haircut or two, you'll be split-ends free :)

PS... maybe get an extra inch chopped off next visit to speed up the process :) (I am sure you won't go for that one, but I thought I'd try ;)

The worst thing I ever did to my hair was dye just the ends (I think it was about 4") fire engine red and bright orange. My hair was soooo brittle! It was like straw!

*L* I am more open to get 2 inches trimmed off each time now...I got 2 inches last week!! And it wasn't that bad. Baby steps, I guess. BWAHHAAA

I should...but I am so lazy! There is a shampoo and conditioner that I really love using, but it costs $100+ a bottle!

Increase your bust size and no one will notice your hair! You're welcome. ;-)

Maybe I should talk to Wolfen about taking prolactin?!? I usually use my hair to cover my boobs, anyway.
