Special days
09.07.07 (10:08 am)   [edit]

After this weekend, Bridezilla and Mr. Bridezilla's wedding will be OVER! Finally! I'm keeping those nicknames for them forever now. Yesterday was the rehearsal. It looks like I have a long walk. I hope I don't trip. I should have brought my heels to practise in on the grass! I am not really looking forward to dancing with my groomsman during the father-daughter dance because I have no idea where I'm supposed to put my hands!

The non-family bridesmaids aren't going to the post-wedding brunch. I thought this was something that the bride and groom were going to pay for, but no. I think of all the bridesmaids, I have spent the least. I almost feel guilty. But I guess I am not too choked about going to this because I didn't attend most of the pre-wedding festivities.

My approximate costs for this wedding:

Stagette #1 (gas): $10
Bridal shower (including food and gift): $130
Photos and CD for the slideshow: $5
Shoes: $40
Hair: $60
Gift: $150
Bra: $80
Brunch: $15-30
Wedding day breakfast: $10

I could have also spent:

Dress: $200
Stagette #2 (Vegas): $1000+
Stagette #3 (Winery tour & dinner): $50

I wonder if anyone is going to drive the wedding party that day. I know they didn't want to spend the money on a limo. This wedding has turned very costly for the couple, but I wonder where they are spending the money...? The bridesmaids feel like Bridezilla and Mr. Bridezilla haven't been all that thankful for any help and have cheaped out where it would have been nice to just spend the money.

Mr. Nick and I also "met" around this time last year. We did meet through an online dating site. He sent me a message a year ago today but we're not sure when I replied. *L* By the time I met him, I had really had enough of online dating. I was just about to stop doing it.

Every time I sent a message to someone, they'd never write back. I always wrote back to people who took the time to write me. The best guys were the ones who swear and make racial slurs at me if I told them I wasn't interested. The Internet sure makes people bold!

The marriage will probably last two months. At least it will finally be over soon.

Swearing and racial slurs? I'm glad I stopped online dating before I ran into those guys. It wears thin pretty quickly doesn't it! But at least you met Mr. Nick. YAY technology! :)

Eloping *must* be the wave of the future! I used to joke that Bridezilla has set the bar for our circle of friends in terms of weddings. BWAHAHHAA

I did online dating for several years! Mr. Nick has definitely been the highlight of my online dating experiences!

I don't think I even spent that much on my best friend's wedding when I was her maid of honour, but she made it easy for everyone to keep costs down...she definitely wasn't a bridezilla!

Oh WOW. You know, I probably would have backed out of the whole thing by now.

It sounds like they've picked a good weekend - it's supposed to be nice.

Hope all goes well and that you have a little fun! :)

I think I would have backed out of being in this wedding if I knew of a gracious (graceful?) way of doing it. I hadn't counted on having to spend so much money on someone's wedding. If we were close, I don't think I would have minded, but I definitely wouldn't consider her one of my best friends or anything.

I'm glad it's supposed to be nice this weekend! I hope they will have removed the barricade from the dead body police incident by then!

Me? I'd elope and then have a fiesta to celebrate with friends later. Only prob is my most special friends are scattered all over the place.

I hope you don't fall flat on your face and you have a blast.

Oh come on, claiming to have the ebola virus is a graceful way to back out of anything. I thought we'd established that.

Eloping and then having a party later is definitely the way to go! THere'd be so fewer headaches.
It was a good time, and I didn't trip once!

Thanks :)
And thankfully, no more weddings coming up until next year. This particular one has made me think about marriage.
