I just hate shopping when it's that busy! I feel like I spend enough of my life standing in a line up! posted by: rosietulips (reply) post date: 09.19.07 (2:44 pm) Reply to: Fitgirl My favourite time to grocery shop is EARLY MORNINGS on the weekends!! posted by: blackcherry925 (reply) post date: 09.19.07 (6:04 pm) We go shopping early sunday morning, and our supermarket is in an ethnic town, next to an ethnic church. We get good prices/deal, and short lines. posted by: FinalyFree (reply) post date: 09.19.07 (9:02 pm) Oh there should definitely be some sort of punishment for those people. heh. posted by: LadyG (reply) post date: 09.19.07 (10:05 pm) They should make them abide by the rule, I hate when that happens, posted by: Twitchy67 (reply) post date: 09.20.07 (7:17 am) Yeah, over shopping the express aisle is one of my biggest pet peeves. The other day this lady was in front of me in the line with just a couple items over the limit, which was ok, but when she gets up to the front she brings in her husband with HIS 15-20 items and has him butt in front of me "You don't mind if my husband steps in here do you?". I almost said "Yes, you ignorant bitch, I do mind. Alot. And I'm gonna key your car to boot! And follow you home and then call the police to report the grow op in your basement." Of course what I really said (with a smile yet!) was "Sure, go ahead". Anyways, I got to the til and in my most passive-aggressive way I said quite loudly to the cashier while they were still in earshot "well that was a good way to cheat the system, splitting up the groceries at the till and then ringing them all through at the same time, huh?" The cashier responded with "heh, yeah...some people just think they're more important than everyone else. Kinda makes me laugh." I didn't see a response but I certainly hope they heard our little exchange. posted by: rosietulips (reply) post date: 09.20.07 (10:52 am) Reply to: blackcherry925 That sounds like food shopping heaven! I probably wouldn't run around so much if I wasn't going to the stores with the best prices! posted by: rosietulips (reply) post date: 09.20.07 (10:55 am) Reply to: FinalyFree There should be an "Estimated maximum 12 items" aisle. The people who can't count can go there!! posted by: rosietulips (reply) post date: 09.20.07 (10:56 am) Reply to: LadyG I spoke to a gentleman one time who was in front of me in the express lane. He had more than the maximum items, so I politely told him our line was an express lane. He tried to argue with me that he had the correct number of items, and when I corrected him, he told he was old enough to be respected. So I told him to respect the rules, and he left the lineup, embarrassed. posted by: rosietulips (reply) post date: 09.20.07 (10:57 am) Reply to: Twitchy67 I think I would have told the lady that I did mind. In all my food shopping years, I've only seen one cashier who made the customer wait for having too many items. He (or she??) was awesome! posted by: wolfen (reply) post date: 09.20.07 (11:29 am) When I worked at a grocery store we got in trouble if we enforced the 12 item limit too strictly. Customers complained! It seems that 14 items is the same as 12 in most people's minds. Or if you buy five of the same thing, people view that as "one item because you only had to enter it one time!" After a while you just get sick of arguing and getting in trouble and you just let everyone go through no matter how many they have. posted by: rosietulips (reply) post date: 09.20.07 (11:48 am) Reply to: wolfen My mom used to try getting away with the "a group of the same items is one item," but I always scolded her. posted by: wolfen (reply) post date: 09.21.07 (12:02 pm) Yeah I always found that one was really funny. I'd say "But they are all items and it clearly says 12 items or less." Most people can justify almost anything if they try hard enough! :) |
