Multiculturalism
11.08.07 (9:43 am)   [edit]

My bank does a good job with their marketing and being all multicultural and all that, but every time I go to sign into my online banking account, I wonder what they were trying to show with this one particular picture.

It’s this blonde woman posing with an Asian boy. It makes me wonder what their relationship is supposed to be and if they’re related in real life.

I had a Filipina coworker once, and her son was half-white. She was fairly dark while her son was considerably fairer. She told me that she was often mistaken for being the nanny. I wonder if this banking photo is the reverse? A dark son with a really fair mom?? Or maybe he’s adopted?

When I was a kid, I often went out with my best friend’s family, and her mom was asked a few times if I was their adopted daughter. BWAHAHA (Why is it anyone’s business anyway?)

People are funny aren't they! It isn't anyone's business. Nanny indeed...what a world we live in.

Well, considering you are asking the same question (regarding the bank photo) "What is their relationship"... I guess you are just like all the people that asked your friends mother "Is that your adopted daughter?"

People are just curious (and nosey!) It really doesn't matter, does it???
