The clock is ticking
11.19.07 (10:27 am)   [edit]

Summary: I am footing the bill for some leaky condos. I made a payment last year, and now I have to make another. This payment ($6500ish) is due at the end of this month.

My dad generously offered to help me pay for this, and he wrote me a cheque before he left the country. I deposited the cheque last week. Today I found out that it was "returned." ??

*sigh* What happened?

Looks like it's going to be line of credit time :-/

Oh no, that's not good. But call your Dad and tell him what happened, it could just be a mistake either with him or his bank and it might be easy to clear up. I sure hope so!

I sent my dad an e-mail. I haven't been successful reaching him in the past with the number he gave me. He's been out of the country for about a month now. Hopefully, he can figure things out for me soon. The cheque was drawn from his line of credit from a bank account of his that I have no access to. I was counting on having that money around by Wednesday :-/

oh deario that's not good at all. Hopefully things get straightened out soon. I can't believe the costs to repair those condos is soo much for each person. Have you heard if there is going to be a lawsuit or not?

I hope I can get in touch with my dad soon, and he can sort out his banking issues!? Or at least tell me if he changed his mind about giving me the money. I already had to pay $18K, which resulted in me remortgaging my home!

There is a lawsuit going on, but these things always take so long. And for a while, negotiations were stalled because of our updated costs. Ugh!

Major Bummer!
This is definetly not a good time of year to have such a large bill.
I wish you much luck w/ getting the check issue solved.

Thanks, I know! I was already mad about having to pay the bill in the first place!

My sis has a leaky condo too... they are such a pain in the ass. Sounds like your assesment is way less then hers.
I'm sure you'll get it all figured out! But I'd be pretty concerned about the "returned cheque" thing myself... seems weird!

I already paid $18K and now another $6.5K. I hope I can recover some costs soon! ALso, what I paid was on the lower end compared to everyone else since the cost was calculated by square footage. Some people have to pay twice as much as I do!

Geez I do hope you can get things figured out and I hope you don't have to count on that line of credit. Debt sucks ass.

Oh, I am sure I will be counting on my line of credit! Hopefully, my dad can get back to me soon. In a perfect situation, I'd be transferring the money out of my dad's bank account that I have access to and then putting it back in with money from my mom. And then my dad can re-give me the money (so I can pay back my mom)!!
