Home sweet bacon
11.28.07 (11:42 am)   [edit]

I tend to avoid cooking bacon on the stove because the smell lingers for a long time! I usually just roast it in the oven. Anyway, I had to cook it on the stove last night, and now my place just reeks of bacon!

Other than opening all the windows, what's a fast way of getting rid of the aroma?

I really need a potato masher for making refried beans. The back of a wooden spoon is no good!

My Grandmother swears that vinegar will absorb odors, she just fills a tea cup about half full of white vinegar and sits it on her kitchen windowsil. Her place don't stink so maybe it does? heh

I can't be particularly helpful with this one though this is the exact reason I don't cook bacon period.

She keeps it out all the time and changes the vinegar every so often. I'll ask her just how often.

BWAHAHAA I like bacon on occasion. The oven seems to be the best place to cook it! Less messy and smelly!
