Let’s make the days longer
01.09.08 (1:46 pm)   [edit]
I have only 4 hours from the time I get home from work to the time I want to get into bed. By the time I finish my usual routine stuff, I feel like I haven’t had a chance to unwind before going to bed.

I have been feeling stressed and really burnt out for quite some time. I think it’s really starting to affect me. I haven’t felt totally happy for quite some time, and it’s affecting my interaction with people. It almost feels like a burden to see people because I feel like it’s cutting into my me time. I sense a snowball effect going on.

I’m constantly doing something so it saves me time farther down the road. And I feel like these are things I have to do. Usually these things are cooking and laundry?! Never mind the “to-do-when-I-have- time” list that seems to get longer and longer…

I always have to make sure I have enough for lunches because if I’m home late one night, I don’t have to worry about cooking (I hate buying lunch because I don’t like my food choices where I work). I have to make sure I have enough gym clothes for at least two days because I hang my clothes to dry. It probably wouldn’t as hard to coordinate if I had a schedule of events 2 weeks in advance. Or if I was single or if I always slept at home.

I really need to find ways to de-stress that doesn’t involve increasing my cost of living! Maybe I need to make bigger batch of freezer-friendly foods and buy more gym clothes. But whatever it is, I need to do it now!

I wish I could provide some insight but I'm in the same boat. Hopefully one of the other readers has some words of advise to share - I'd love to hear them.

I also feel the same, I do think though that a lot of people are in the same boat. Realisation of what the world offers makes it more difficult for us to accept that we just have to live a routine of a life, it was easier in the past because nobody really knew what else was on offer. (sh*t that was way too deep). My solution is to leave my job as soon as I get my bonus and go travelling. I already have my flight to Thailand booked :-)

If it all gets too much I'll see you there!

Everyone just keeps suggesting I say no! But the problem is that I don't have a hugely active social life for me to say no to. BWAHAHHAA

I guess that is why they say to enjoy life while you are still young! I am so envious of your Thailand trip! Be careful though! Hey, why not take a trip around the world and stop in Vancouver, BC? :-D

I hope it's just a case of the winter blahs.

Hopefully! November and December were also extremely busy months :-/

You definitely spend A LOT of time preparing food! Ever considered freezing things? Make HUGE batches of stuff, this will definitely save you time in the long run. (But it get's boring eating the same ting for an extended period of time.)

I think it will get easier once you and Mr. Nick live together. I'm sure you also waste a lot of time travelling to and from each other's place... that's just exhausting! And you'll also have each other to help cook/clean/do all the chores. I don't know what I'd do without Collin sometimes! He's really helpful, when I ask him to be :)

And I rarely go out with friends! I guess it's just a sacrifice I make to keep my sanity. I like my "ME" time too :)

Luckily, it takes me a long time before I get bored of food. I'm beginning to think my freezer isn't big enough! BWAHAHA I have a lot of raw food in there. At least it's easier to make soups for the winter.

I think we are both lucky to have our helpful significant others :D
