I don't know if there's a lot that you can do about that kind of pain...aside from Ibuprofen...but it may be worth talking to an acupuncturist to see if they can help. posted by: mimi (reply) post date: 01.14.08 (7:23 pm) sounds like you need an orthopedic doctor...perhaps you have "hairline" fractures...I know a good group in central florida : ) posted by: FinalyFree (reply) post date: 01.14.08 (7:53 pm) I agree with Mimi, an ortho guy/gal would be best. But I will tell ya that I injured my ankle pretty badly in a fall about 10 years ago and it still flares up, and my son cracked a bone in his ankle when he was 7 and his Ortho told me it would be 'weak' for the rest of his life. posted by: bawdy (reply) post date: 01.15.08 (1:06 pm) Your doctor should be able to refer you to the proper therapist. It could be a ligament problem. posted by: Twitchy67 (reply) post date: 01.15.08 (2:43 pm) Podiatrist... posted by: rosietulips (reply) post date: 01.15.08 (2:52 pm) Reply to: wolfen My acupuncturist has always worked on my ankle, and I thought my ankle was pretty much recovered. I'll have to ask her to work on it again. posted by: rosietulips (reply) post date: 01.15.08 (2:53 pm) Reply to: mimi *teehee* Does the group have Canadian branches?? posted by: rosietulips (reply) post date: 01.15.08 (2:57 pm) Reply to: FinalyFree When I was a kid, I think my ankles were quite weak. I'd often do something funky like twisting them. I thought I grew out of that! There must be something that people can do to strengthen ankles?! Or cankles... posted by: rosietulips (reply) post date: 01.15.08 (2:57 pm) Reply to: bawdy I was hoping to avoid my doctor...but I might have to just bite the bullet. If she recommends physio I will tear my hair out. posted by: rosietulips (reply) post date: 01.15.08 (2:58 pm) Reply to: twitchy67 Do you know of a good one? The one I went to see about my shin splints told me to stretch...that plan worked out ...NOT. posted by: Fitgirl (reply) post date: 01.15.08 (3:25 pm) I have had some acute injuries also in the past, and I usually get the "rest, rest, rest it!" answer from my doctors! Is there anywhere that does sports physio that you could go, even if just to see a doctor about what you should and shouldn't do with it while it's heeling. I agree with you here, I don't think a full course of physiotherapy is what you require at this point. Perhaps you need to bandage it daily? (Google it, you might get the answers on-line too!) posted by: mimi (reply) post date: 01.15.08 (5:44 pm) Reply to: rosietulips don't know, but I will ask : ) hope you get better soon! xoxox posted by: rosietulips (reply) post date: 01.15.08 (10:54 pm) Reply to: Fitgirl Resting hasn't seem to help my ankle at all! I would love to find a sports med doctor! Maybe I will ask my doctor about it. Perhaps I should ice more oftne? who knows! posted by: rosietulips (reply) post date: 01.15.08 (10:54 pm) Reply to: mimi Thanks, mimi :) |
