How fitting
03.02.08 (10:13 am)   [edit]

This is my horoscope for the week:

Most of you are enjoying hunkering down at home more. You need time by yourself; in addition, the demands of home, family and parents cannot be ignored. That's okay because relations with siblings and relatives, and even neighbours are unusually warm, caring and reassuring this week. (Gosh.) It's just one big feel-good, mutual admiration society. "But lo! What thunder bursts on yonder horizon? Could that be coming from the mouths of my specially chosen loved ones? Gads! It is! (I hate it when this happens.)" Disputes about shared property, shared responsibilities, and who owes what to whom are very likely. (Groan.)

This doesn't bode well with the family I will be dealing with soon, and especially in regards to my father's estate! Yesterday my aunt called me to give me some unsolicited advice. She actually suggested I not hire a lawyer to take care of my dad's estate, so I can save money. "Just go buy a probate and wills kit!"

Yeah, right.

My dad also had a specific request about his place here. He said his friend could live in it without having to pay for expenses. From what I hear, she doesn't want to burden me and will not want to live there.  I also recently found out that my dad has a place in mainland China as well. I think he and his friend bought it together. For that reason, I would just want her to keep it. I have no interest in owning it or dealing with it. I haven't told my mom yet because I know she will think it's rightfully mine, and she will pressure me to get it. Nobody has really asked me what I want to do.

My desk is pretty much cleaned out at work. Soon I will look over my history and make some notes that I plan on discussing at my exit interview.

Hang in there..all this will behind you before you know it. Your aunt sounds like the type who will give an uninformed opinion on everything.

Is she the same aunt that is always offering advice on your love life as well? Lame.

Just kindly thank your Aunt for the advice and stick to your own instincts! lol

My aunt means well, which is why I tend to say "mmhmm...okay...yes" and then pretty much forget what she's said! When I saw her for lunch, she was like, "let me know if you need anything, especially since we're family. I LOVE to help people."

BWAHAHAHA Yes! This is the same aunt that offers me advice on my love life. At least she will hold off on that for now. When I met her for lunch, I thought she was going to apologise for telling my boyfriend that she knew diamond wholesalers and that if he wanted cheaper diamonds to let her know. Instead, she told me the reason why he and I were sitting with complete strangers at my cousin's wedding banquet.

My uncle thought Mr. Nick would be more comfortable sitting with people who could speak English, and they weren't sure how close Mr. Nick and I were. At least my aunt regrets that decision.

That is exactly what I did! My uncle (on my mom's side) also had the same advice...to take care of all the legal stuff myself! These people are crazy! Why do people give me on advice on things they've never done?

Of course, you *would* be entitled to half of the mainland China property. Will there be costs in China that are associated with this property? You should make sure that you aren't liable for them?

I haven’t even begun to think about my dad’s property in mainland China. I’ll be seeking legal advice when I’m over there. At least we have a family friend who is a lawyer who may be able to assist us! I know so little about his property. I hope his friend was in the loop about the purchase.
