What I presumed would happen - happened!

Yesterday was my last day of work. My (now old) company makes it seem so natural to have people stop going back to the office as soon as they've given their letter. Now I have until the 14th to take care of my dad's estate during regular business hours.

I hope I have not taken on too much already. Here's my schedule for the next couple of weeks:

April 3: lawyer
April 4: doctor
April 5: brunch, movie, birthday gathering
April 7: massage therapy
April 8: seminar
April 9: spa day

I also plan on cleaning my place and spending at least a day with my best friend while she is on mat leave. She needs a hand!

I think I said almost everything I wanted to in my exit interview. I made my (now old) boss look like a douche bag, and I let them know that I was going to a company doing the same thing who was going to pay me more. I also let them know that I would not recommend them as an employer.

There's a friend that I have who has been wanting to see me. That is fine. But he is really pissing me off by not understanding and acknowledging that I am trying to deal with my dad's death and estate. He's always sent me text messages about people he sees and things he's doing, but right now, they just really bug me. He just goes on about his own issues frequently, and to me, they just seem really trivial right now.

Thanks! The HR woman didn't look too impressed when she heard some of the things my boss said to me. At least she knows even though I doubt he will be reprimanded for anything!

Sounds like a busy schedule you've got for yourself. Sometimes people can be pretty insensitive about what other people are going through. I hope your friend realizes soon that you need to spend your personal energy on your dad's estate and starting a new job and that you don't have a lot leftover for consoling others because you haven't even got any extra for you!

Good you let them know how terrible he was.

And it looks like my schedule is just getting busier! I think I may cancel my massage therapy. It looks like I will have more dad stuff to take care of.

Well, the 5th, 7th and 9th sound good, but it's too bad you may have to cancel the massage. You probably have an enormous amount of toxins stored in your body from all the stress.

Until you've lost a parent, it's impossible to know how it feels. Your friends, even thought they may not understand, should be offering support. That includes helping clean the house. Just my opinion.

I bet that felt good. You should have laid into him in person too!

I forgot about the toxins. Often masseuses and massage therapists tell me to drink lots of water after my massages. I am going to try to keep the massage therapy appointment as best I can!

My friends who know what it's like to lose a parent have been phenomenal!

Only I was lame and even offered to take action that would help the next tech writer.
