Plus, I figure that when you've been together long enough that you want to get married, you should be able to tell what she'll like. posted by: rosietulips (reply) post date: 05.29.08 (10:24 am) Reply to: LadyG Did you and your husband choose the ring before or after you got engaged? posted by: rosietulips (reply) post date: 05.29.08 (10:26 am) Reply to: themarina Well, the thing is...he knew what she wanted. I guess it's nice he knew what she wanted, but I think it would have been more thoughtful to have the ring ready. posted by: rosietulips (reply) post date: 05.29.08 (10:28 am) Reply to: userfriendly No, rings aren't everything. But in this case (the traditionalist that he is), he would want to get his fiancee an engagement ring. And he knew what she wanted, too. When he proposed with a candy ring, she wasn't sure if he was being serious or not. posted by: FinalyFree (reply) post date: 05.29.08 (10:51 am) As a woman who's been married *ahem* a few times I never got a ring I truly wanted. I suppose none of them knew me, lol. Actually it's usually been more an issue of finances. My husband would sink himself in debt in a milisecond to give me a ring I really, really wanted but I just can't see doing that now--not with so many kids and such. Even if only half of them go to school that spells poor-house for us, lol. But one day. One day, I WILL have that 1.5 carat, emerald cut, solitaire set in platinum!! lol posted by: rosietulips (reply) post date: 05.29.08 (11:13 am) Reply to: FinalyFree Not that you've thought about the ring of your dreams or anything?? I've never really thought about engagement rings for myself. I always assumed if I wanted a diamond ring, I'd have to buy my own (set in platinum of course)! I can't help but like sparkley things. My cousin bought a ring for his fiancee and the rock was the size of her pinky nail, I swear! |
