I've been to a salt mine in Austria and we got to put on the old mines clothing and we boarded a mine trolley that took us deep deep deep underground. Then we hopped onto a wooden slide that took us even deeper were they still excavate the salt. Pretty cool. posted by: rajkumarpb (reply) post date: 08.01.08 (12:38 am) :) posted by: rosietulips (reply) post date: 08.01.08 (8:09 am) Reply to: PirateGirl THat's my favourite ride at Disneyland!!! posted by: rosietulips (reply) post date: 08.01.08 (8:09 am) Reply to: squirrelzone Wow, visiting a salt mine in Austria must have been NEAT! From my understanding, the mine I went to gets lots of German tourists. posted by: rosietulips (reply) post date: 08.01.08 (8:09 am) Reply to: rajkumarpb :) posted by: squirrelzone (reply) post date: 08.01.08 (8:12 am) Reply to: rosietulips Same with the one I went too. I'm thankful that my parents loved to travel when my Dad was stationed in Germany. posted by: rosietulips (reply) post date: 08.01.08 (8:14 am) Reply to: squirrelzone I'm glad my parents took me places when I was younger, too! posted by: squirrelzone (reply) post date: 08.01.08 (8:16 am) Reply to: rosietulips We've both have had a rich and traveled childhood experience then. I wouldn't have traded it for nothing :) posted by: PirateGirl (reply) post date: 08.01.08 (8:49 am) Reply to: rosietulips I've been there too! - I hear that people either love that ride or hate it, cause the song stays in your head once you hear it! ;) posted by: rosietulips (reply) post date: 08.01.08 (9:25 am) Reply to: squirrelzone I definitely have plans to do more traveling! Hurrah! posted by: rosietulips (reply) post date: 08.01.08 (9:25 am) Reply to: PirateGirl It seems like most people hate that ride! BWAHAHAHA But not I! posted by: PirateGirl (reply) post date: 08.01.08 (9:28 am) Reply to: rosietulips It IS a VERY cute ride. I enjoyed it myself - but once ou have heard that song....you NEVER forget it! ;D posted by: bawdy (reply) post date: 08.01.08 (11:49 am) I thought open pit mining was frowned on by environmentalists, but it sounds like they are trying to do their part when they are through by what you say. posted by: rosietulips (reply) post date: 08.01.08 (1:23 pm) Reply to: bawdy I never really thought much about mining, but the mine I visited seemed to try their best at doing the least amount of environmental damage possible. There was an eagle nest in one of the mines, so they sent $15K to move it 10 km. And there are lots of wild animals living there (some endangered) and lots of varieties of birds. And trees started growing on the site, too...without any planters! It was all very cool! |
