Not you, too
01.20.09 (9:24 am)   [edit]

I don't think apathy is a good thing, for the most part.

Anyway, I don't follow American politics intently, but I am listening to Obama speak right now (well, I have cnn.com up with the feed. I am quite impressed that CNN did something in preparation for the heavy traffic...). I think he's a great speaker. There's a bunch of people in the lunchroom watching the inauguration as well.

My English co-worker came by my cube and said, "oh, not you, too." I can't remember what I said, but he did respond with, "I really don't give a shit" regarding American politics and things that are going on today.

Well, I care to a point because what the US does inevitably affects Canada.

He is an excellent speaker, you are right it does affect Canada, hope you are having a good day rosie.

Compared to who preceded him, a chimp would be a better speaker! But it is one thing to say the right things, sometimes even the best politicians hands are tied when trying to effect change. Four years may not be enough time to recover the economy, so it may take a miracle to get him re-elected.

Obama has a big mess to clean up left by GWB. He hasn't promised anything (so sneaky!), and he has said it may take more than a term to get the US to where he wants it to be. It will be interesting to see what happens during his term. It will be even more interesting since he has been inaugurated during a mercury retrograde. Horrible timing!!

I hope I'm wrong, but I really believe that by the time his term is up, it won't matter...Kissinger and UK, France & Germany are pushing for the New World Order...ie... World Government!! The US mucst not be a world power when that comes...and we going downhill fast!!

I am thinking positively and hope that 'we' as the world can be a better place ~ it has been so scary with everything going to hell in a handbasket!

Now I think I'll have a cup of coffee and some cinnamon toast ~ want to join me?

Your english co-worker is an idiot. Regardless of the fact that the American empire is crumbling and may or may not be solvable, they are still the world's biggest economy, biggest military force and biggest culture; what happens there affects virtually EVERYONE in the world.

A world government is a pipe dream at best. Not going to happen in the foreseeable future.

Apparently, it's a tradition for world leaders to visit Canada first when they become a leader. Bush didn't follow it, but I hope Obama does!
