This morning, I stopped by my naturopath's office to get started on my heavy metals test. I was in there for 20 minutes for some IV action. Then he gave me a cup the size of a plastic beer cup and a container. I knew I was going to need to give a urine sample, but I thought I had to go back later in the day to give it (after 6 hours). No...I have to collect all my pee for the next 6 (well, 5 now) hours. All of it!! BWAHAHAHA It's almost amazing how much pee you can expel in one go. Sometimes a cup just isn't enough. I don't think I will be able to drop off my pee until Friday, and until then, my pee will just sit in the office. At least I don't have to keep it in the fridge. I should be able to hear my results in about 2 weeks. I'm doing this test to see how toxic my body is. It could be the metals in my body that have been affecting my health. I guess I'll see! |

Ok here's my pet- peeeeeve - why - with all the advanced technology there is now days - do we still have to hold that damn cup to pee in, with our hands?? - not the easiest task as you well know! - Why not invent something that is at least designed as more "user-friendly" ?????? I mean seriously! :(

Collecting pee is a tedious process, let me tell you! Well it's tedious for a woman, anyhow. And can you believe how much pee there is in one session???! I sure can't!

I was thinking about that cup when I took my last pee. I had to stop peeing so I could empty the cup TWO times!! Just give me a jug already.

If you can't get it there before friday rosie, it should be refrigerated, be sure to call them and check.Urine should be kept cold if kept out for more then an hour or two.

I agree with LadyG's reply ~ I was told to refrigerate 'my sample' when I had to do it ~ would hate to have it become defective and you repeat it.

If you're supposed to be "collecting it" then wouldn't pouring it out defeat the purpose?? - or did I miss something - is "the cup" just to pee into and then you're pouring it into something bigger? :/

My naturopath said that since we were only testing for metals, which wouldn't be going anywhere that I didn't have to refrigerate it. He did say for other tests, I'd have to. Good thing I didn't have to put my urine in the work fridge!

Seems like refrigeration is really common! But apparently, since I was testing for metals, I didn't have to. The metals wouldn't be going anywhere!

Glad the pee marathon is over with and you just have to protect your collection so it doesn't get thrown away by some unsuspecting person before you deliver it to it's final destination.

I guess I do envy guys a little when it comes to being able to pee wherever they want. I have heard of a contraption for women so we can pee standing up, too! And then I also read about women who can just position themselves to pee standing up.
