No dairy!
02.26.09 (9:04 am)   [edit]

For people who aren't supposed to consume dairy, why is goat's milk products okay?

I have been avoiding cow's milk for a while, except when I make gelato. Then it's the organic stuff packaged in a glass bottle (love it!). But in  pinch last night, I had to find something easy to consume, and chocked full of protein, so I got some goat's milk yogurt. I think that kind of yogurt requires some fruit.

Once it's all mixed up, it's actually very creamy and delicious. But then again, it's probably just the brand. Liberte makes the best yogurt ever! When I first opened the container, the smell of goat dairy was a little too strong for me. I didn't think I'd be able to handle it!

Anyway, I'm going my other mercury fillings removed today. I hope I will be able to eat comfortably. The left side of my mouth will be numb, but the right side is still not very good for eating. It hurts to chew food. It's been months now! But my regular dentist just had another kid and has taken some time off. I hope I don't get the same sort of complications from this dentist!

I switched from half/half to soy milk in my coffee. It's not the same, but it's a compromise.

Just don't try to drink after the numbing. I drooled all over myself. :)

I find the goat's milk here tastes different than it did at home. We don't drink it often but I do occasionally buy it to make cheese. *yum*

Is it safe?

Mercury fillings? I think I have a few of those, along with a rather strong fear of the dentist. So, what happens if I just keep them?

I like drinking soy milk or using it on cereal, but when it comes to using it as a beverage condiment, I don't think I could!
I asked for a straw yesterday to go with my glass of water. I was afraid I was going to dribble!!

Yes, I think goat's milk products should be safe. I must find this particular sign again. It was about the shortage of goat's milk, and I think they produce less milk around this time of year?? I can't remember! Now if only there were larger containers of goat's milk yogurt.

The dentist is definitely not one of my favourite people to see! If you keep your mercury fillings, maybe nothing will happen? Or the mercury from your fillings leak into your body which can lead to neurotoxic effects. I hadn't really heard much about the horrible effects of mercury in the body until recently, but there is actually a lot of research and materials out there about this!

I have never been a milk drinker. I don't think I've ever thought to myself, "Gee, I'd like a tall cold glass of milk."

But, I got into the habit of half & half in my coffee. Not the best choice when trying to slim down. So the tablespoon or two of soy in my milk is a compromise. It's a nice treat and in theory, it's healthy? LOL

And I'm so glad you didn't dribble.

*That sounds so inappropriate, doesn't it?

BWAHAHA You're all about appropriateness!
I like having a glass of milk with some food items, mainly cookies and anything chocolatey. My mom used to use condensed milk in her tea, but switched to milk to cut down on the fat. Fat is all too tasty!!
