In my previous tblog entry, I said something about people I'd cut off. One of them would be J...I got an email from him today. I hope he's forgotten this blog link. A while back, I told him I did not wish to be friends. Since then, he's sent 3 emails. I don't have a strong desire to reply. I would reply, but I don't want to offer any encouragement. He still wants to talk to me. I don't know. He's one of the few people that I've found intellectually stimulating, and that is what I miss most. |

I have a friend like that! pissed me off in a major way 6 months ago but I miss talking with him. He's the only one I felt I could talk to about anything from religion to politics to philosophy to astronomy to... :(

Did you tell him off? Or have you forgiven him? Are you tempted to contact him again?? Eventually, I do get over things, but I don't know about talking to him again...

I emailed him just before I saw your blog, actually. So I'm not sure. I don't know that i really want to. It really hurt the way he treated me before, not sure I should give him another chance to do it again. Guess I'll play it by ear.

Wow, I know *exactly* how you feel! What did you say to him in the email? My friends have advised me to cut him off. One put it all into perspective when she said, "if I treated you like crap, and then I was nice to you, would you put up with it?"

Since it's been 6-7 months since he and I talked last and he just got a new job, I just asked him how the new job was going and how the family is.
he and I have been internet friends for 7 years - that's a long time. Things were getting too close for his comfort, i think he needed some time to pull back and get perspective. I think I needed it too, to be honest. I didn't like it, but it was necessary.
In our case it was a one-time incident, but if he made a habit of it? You bet I'd cut him off :)

I hope you and your friend can move past what happened. I am still undecided whether I want to write my "friend" back...Some things might just be better left alone. But 7 years is a good amount of time for a friendship!!
